Shopping list
500 ml fresh whipped cream
250 ml of milk
5 pasteurized egg yolks
200 g of sugar
1 tablespoon of honey
1 vanilla pod
4 cups freshly brewed espresso coffee

Affogato al caffè is a much loved dessert in Italy, we love it too! For the mini monsters we forget the espresso, they get a bowl of vanilla ice cream with which they are very happy. Put the milk and the double cream in a saucepan.

Scrape a vanilla pod and put seeds and pod into the saucepan.

Put egg yolks and sugar in the mixer.

Add the honey to the mixture and stir it in firmly.

Place the ice cream mixture back on the heat and let it thicken in 7-10 minutes, while you stir continuously

Pour the vanilla ice cream mixture into a clean bowl.

Let it cool and cover the mixture with cling film.

Place the bowl overnight in the refrigerator.

Fetch the ice maker.

Fill the container.

Let the icemaker churn 30 minutes.

Spoon the ice cream into a freezer container.

Make strong espresso in an Italian caffettiera.

Scoop a ball of ice cream into a cup, pour hot espresso over it.
