2 tablespoons cold water
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon fine sugar

Today we are making a classic Hanukkah side dish, apple sauce. Because tomorrow we want to bake Latkes, just like in the book that we are going to read again on Wednesday. The tasty potato pancakes (Latkes) are traditionally eaten with sour cream or apple sauce. We opt for apple sauce for the mini-monsters, but both are also possible.
How to make apple sauce for Hanukkah
Wash and pell the apples, remove the cores.
Cut the apples and grate the lemon zest on top.
Add the water to the apples and bring to the boil.
Put the lid on the pan and let the apples simmer until they are soft
The apples are soft, add the butter.
Also add the sugar to the apples.
Stir all together until combined but not smooth.
Take a clean, sterelized preserves jar.
Pour the apple sauce into the jar.
Seal the jar and let it cool.
When cooled place the jar in the fridge.
Stir the apple sauce a moment before serving.
The apple sauce tastes rins and fresh and also smells lovely!
Happy Hanukkah!
