Today we make a little chick to hang in the cot of a sweet baby girl. We choose pink, but you can make the little chick in any colour you like.
How to make a chick
First make a mold to make the pompoms
Trace two glasses twice.
Cut the circles from the cardboard.
Draw a cross and cut a circle out.
Now you made 2 sets of rings.
Wrap wool around the circles using the needle.
Go on until the holes are completely filled.
Find a bit of cardboard in between the wool.
Stick the scissors in between and cut the wool.
When the wool is cut slide the rings to the outside.
Knot a thread in between the circles, tie it as tight as you can.
Slide the rings gently from the pompom.
Make a second pompom in the same manner.
Roll the pompom between your hands and snip it neatly round.
Stick the attached threads to the top and knot tie them of.
At GAMMA we bought a packet of wooden curtain rings, they're available in white or pine.
Bowknot a long, thin ribbon onto a curtain ring.
Cut out of a piece of felt a little beak, feet and two wings (template).
Attach the beak between the woolen threads with glue, feet and wings too.
Embroider the eyes, sew through the heart of the pompom.
Sew the chick on one end of the ribbon, tie the little bell on the other end.
Sew the ribbon onto the head of the chick.
The chick has become a lovely present!
