Today we bake heart biscuits for mom, it's almost Mother's Day. Not only do we bake hearts, we also stir a glaze (royal icing can be used as well), to make the heart biscuits extra pretty. The mini-monsters are a big help, that will be a lovely surprise for mum!
How to make heart cookies
Download the recipe and make the dough.
Knead the dough nice and smooth by hand.
Roll the dough to app. 0.5 cm thickness and cut out hearts.
Place the hearts on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Slide the biscuits in the middle of the oven.
Bake until light brown, in 10 - 12 minutes.
Let the hearts cool on a wire rack.
While the biscuits cool you make the glaze
First make a thick glaze, to pipe edges
Make lemon juice, we defrost it.
Sift the icing sugar into a mixing bowl.
Add the water, add some more if it's too thick.
Add 3 drops of lemon juice and mix until smooth.
Spoon some of the glaze into a piping bag
Pipe white rims on the biscuits, let set.
Colour the glaze a pastel pink.
Make the glaze a little more liquid.
Fill up half of the biscuits with the pastel pink glaze, then mix in some more food colouring and make the other half hot pink
Allow the glaze to set really well.
The biscuits look pretty, let's taste a few!
Happy Mother's Day!
