When grandma still baked cookies for us, free range or organic eggs were never mentioned. She loved animals very much, but an egg was an egg and you bought it at the grocers. You didn't know where the egg came from and you didn't wonder either.
Now we still bake grandma's cookies. We remember how lovely the whole house smelled, when grandma baked cookies for us on weekends. But now we do want to know where the eggs we use come from. Because eggs from a mega caged chicken farm? That is definitely not done nowadays!
