Shopping list for 2 persons
1 ham, +/- 450 grams
1 garlic clove, crushed
3 spring onions, cut into fine rings
½ an orange, finely zested and juiced
100g clear honey
½ teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
4 table spoon fresh ginger, finely grated
3 tablespoons soy sauce
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
150g soft light brown sugar
With a leftover cranberry compôte and a lean ham, we quickly prepare a tasty, light meal just after Christmas. Your menu is complete with a green salad and some baked potatoes on the side. The amount of glaze is for 2 - 4 people, for more than 4 people you need to multiply the ingredients. The cooking and baking time for the ham is (per +/- 450 grams) 25 minutes of cooking and 20 minutes of baking time in the oven, adjust these times to the weight of the ham.
How to make a honey-glazed ham
Cover the ham with water and cook it for 25 minutes.
Put all ingredients for the glaze in a saucepan.
Add the soft, light brown sugar as well.
Stir the ingredients until combined.
Bring the glaze to the boil
Let it thicken in 25 minutes
Score the ham diagonally.
Preheat the oven to 200°C
Pour the glaze on the ham.
Roast the ham for 20 minutes.
Take the ham from the oven, let it rest a minute.
Cut the roasted ham into thin slices.
Serve the ham with cranberry sauce and the side dishes.
