Happy Birthday Curiosity! is an exceptional, true story in a picture book for young children. Curiosity was launched from Cape Canaveral on November 26, 2011. The robot - in the shape of a Mars Rover the size of a car - landed on Mars on August 5, 2012.
This primary two year mission for NASA was meant to investigate whether Mars is or ever was suitable for (human) life. Another goal was to learn more about the climate, the geology of Mars and the suroundings of the Red Planet.
In December 2012, Curiosity's mission was extended indefinitely and on 5 August 2017 the anniversary of his arrival on Mars was celebrated. Curiosity then 'sang' Happy Birthday to itself, which could be seen all over the world (video top right).
