Now that we have read the 'Bobbi celebrates Saint Martin' book very often, our mini-monster wants to make the same beautiful mushroom lantern as Bobbi did. We will, because it really is a good craft for toddlers so we start right away! :)
How to make Bobbi's Saint Martin Lantern
The preparations
Cut out white dots for the littlest ones or maybe they can do it themselves already
Draw a square on green cardstock, cut it out.
Draw and cut out the same square of cardboard.
Trace a saucer with a pencil then cut out the circle.
Give a cut up to the center of the circle.
Cut a strip of (off) white cardboard.
Cut out circles and make small cuts.
Now the toadstool parts are ready!
This can toddlers do by themselves
Puk sticks white dots on the hat, fully concentrated.
Then he folds the cuts in the stem of the mushroom.
Puk sticks coloured paper in the windows.
Then he spreads glue on the strips on the stem.
We are almost ready, the last steps are for the attending adult again
Glue the cup in the middle of the bottom to hold the light in place.
Slide the cut in the hat on each other, glue it together then let it dry.
Glue the stem round, press the stem on the square, allow to dry.
Thread a string with a bead through the hat, tie the end to the stick.
Glue the hat on the stem then let the glue dry again.
Have fun with your lantern! If you do not celebrate Saint Martinmas you can cosily hang it above your bed, just like Bobbi!
