Boekenlegger sneeuwklokje homepage

Today is Candlemas and we are going to embroider a bookmark. The monsters don't have to think about it for long, what is more beautiful than a Snowdrop in February? We bought a special felt-tip pen at the haberdashery store. Draw with it on fabric and after a short time your drawing will disappear by itself. It's a trick marker! If you don't have one, you can also use a pencil, you embroider over it anyway.

How you can make a Snowdrop bookmark too

Cut two strips of felt measuring 7x18cm

Draw a Snowdrop on 1 strip.

Insert the thread into the needle and tie a knot at the bottom.

Embroider straight stitches that run slantedly upwards.

Continue using green thread until the top of the flower.

Now you have embroidered the stem and the bud where the petals come from, but embroider the leaves first

Embroider the leaf in the same way, using slightly larger stitches.

When both leaves are done you embroider the petals.

Save the petal in the middle for last, stick through to the second one.

Embroider the petal in the middle.

Embroider tiny stitches in the middle.

Embroider a stripe, for the soil.

The Snowdrop is done!

Pin the two strips together and blanket stitch them together.

Then your bookmark is firmer and the back looks pretty too.

Enjoy reading with your pretty bookmark and have a lovely day today!
