The mini monsters are learning how to knit at school and they really enjoy it. We make needles for them, a little shorter than we use ourselves. This time we make really nice ones, especially for autumn but you can knit with them all year round, if you like. :)) There are little mushrooms on the ends!
How to make mushroom knitting needles
Draw on the wood 2 marks on 25 cm.
Saw both the sticks off.
Twist a point on both sticks with a pencil sharpener.
Sand the sticks including the points nice and smooth.
Please mind, do not sand the points sharp but blunt, the knitting needles are for younger children
Twist a hole in the half balls.
Make the hole larger with the drill.
Stick half the balls on the knitting needles.
- sand the 'toadstools' smooth too and paint them red 2 or 3 times, because you use watercolour
- paint white dots on the toadstools using a little round wooden stick
Let the paint dry completely.
Paint on white dots.
Beeswax makes the needles smooth.
Rub the knitting needles with wax.
Let the wax soak in a while and then rub it out.
Now you are ready to knit with your nice smooth new needles.
