These tasty Easter bread baskets look cosy on the breakfast table when it's Easter! You have fun making them with the kids, use white bread flour or brown wheat flour from the mill.
Here is how you make them
Sieve the flour with sugar and salt into a big bowl.
Weigh the fresh yeast and crumble it above the bowl.
Add water and oil and mix it at medium speed.
Sprinkle some flour on your worktop.
Knead the bread dough quickly by hand.
Cover the bowl with cling film and place it near a radiator.
After 30 minutes the dough should be doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 200 ° C.
Roll the bread dough on a sheet of waxed paper into snakes.
Braid several times three snakes together.
Depending on the size you like you can make 3 or 6 baskets.
Roll the braids in a circle and press a flat bottom.
Prick holes into the bottom using a fork.
Brush beaten egg onto the baskets.
Bake the baskets in +/- 30 minutes golden.
Let the baskets cool on a wire rack.
Place hot, boiled eggs into the baskets.
NB You could place raw eggs in the baskets when you put them into the oven. But some people like soft eggs others like hard boiled eggs. This is the way to have control over it.
