165g plain flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
90g unsalted butter
225g grated cheddar
2 free range organic egg yolks
2 tablespoons water
Happy New Year! Today is Sunday again, so we are baking Cheddar stars. American, delicious brittle cheese biscuits. They get a nice color from the yellow cheese and they look cozy.
How to make Cheddar stars
Line two baking trays with baking paper and set aside for now
Grate the Cheddar cheese and set it aside.
Put the flour, salt, onion and garlic powder in the blender.
Add the cubber butter and blend it until combined.
Do not blend it to long, more is to come :))
Add the Cheddar and blend.
Beat in the egg yolks and the water.
Blend until all is well combined.
Roll it by hand into a ball.
Cut the dough in half.
Roll the dough to 4cm thickness.
Cut out the stars.
Preheat the oven to 170°C
Place the stars 15 minutes in the freezer.
Place the stars on the baking tray.
Bake the stars for 15-20 minutes.
Bake the stars a nice golden brown and let them cool on the baking tray for 10 minutes
Then let them cool completely on a wire rack.
