square folding sheets, red
hobby glue
a ribbon
red envelopes
optional: glitter glue, gold
For Chinese New Year, you can make these easy Chinese lanterns with preschoolers. The lanterns will be extra beautiful if you stick red envelopes on them or decorate them with glitter glue. Both are also possible of course!
How to make Chinese lanterns
Download the template, cut it out and trace it on the cardboard
Trace the rectangle on the cardboard.
Cut out the rectangle.
Fold two squares like a harmonica.
Cut out the 2 small pieces of black cardboard.
Cut the red folded harmonica's to fit.
Stick the 2 pieces under the rectangle.
Stick the 2 harmonica's on the rectangle.
- Roll up a piece of red paper, cut it in and stick the tassel on the back of the bottom of the lantern
- Stick a loop of ribbon on the top of the back of the lantern, then you can hang it, later on
Stick on the envelope with hobby glue.
Allow the glue to dry comepletely.
