For the biscuits
200g soft butter
180g icing sugar
1 sachet vanilla sugar
2 free-range organic eggs
2 free-range organic egg yolks
225g patent flour
275g cornflour
1 sachet baking powder
a pinch of sea salt
360g milk chocolate
Garnish
50g white chocolate
Today we bake chocolate cookies filled with Nutella, for Eid al Fitr. We found the recipe on the Dutch website Kookmutsjes, by 2 ladies who bake a lot of cookies! We bake half of the recipe, that makes enough biscuits for us, if you want to bake more just double the amount of ingredients.
How to bake chocolate hearts
Cut the soft butter into cubes.
Add icing sugar and vanilla sugar.
Beat until it is creamy.
Sift flour, cornstarch and salt.
Also add the baking powder
Add the flour mixture, the eggs and yolks.
Fold all firmly until combined.
Knead swiftly smooth by hand.
Allow the dough to rest in the refrigerator for an hour
Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C Fan
Roll out the dough to 1cm and cut out hearts.
Place on waxed paper on a baking tray.
Bake the biscuits in 10 -12 mins. light brown.
Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Cover half of the biscuits with Nutella.
Press the other half on top.
Melt the chocolate au bain marie.
Remove the chocolate from the heat, stir in the cream.
Cover the hearts completely with chocolate.
Allow the chocolate to set completely.
Melt the white chocolate au bain marie.
Spoon the melted chocolate in a piping bag
Draw white chocolate stripes over the hearts.
Delicious with a glass of mint tea!
