80g butter
200ml double cream
300g dark chocolate
1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
4 tablespoons Grand Marnier or to taste
6 tablespoons cocoa
This simple recipe to make chocolate truffles at home is typically a snazzie recipe. Not for kids this time, because they are made with Grand Marnier. But with them, because the truffles make delicious presents to surprise mum and/or grandma with.
How to make 32 chocolate truffles
Mix the butter with the cream on low heat.
Meanwhile chop the chocolate roughly.
Place the chocolate pieces in a heat proof bowl.
Bring the butter mixture to the boil and stir it.
Pour the butter mixture over the chocolate.
Add the coffee powder to the mixture.
Whisk everything together well.
Fill a bowl with ice cubes and some cold water then place the bowl with the chocolate mixture in it
Beat the mixture vigorous until it thickens (+/- 5 mins.)
Add the Grand Marnier to the mixture and beat it in.
Spoon the mixture when it holds shape into a piping bag.
Pipe truffles onto a baking tray covered with waxed paper.
Place the tray a couple of hours into the fridge.
When set roll the truffles into the cocoa.
Make sure they are covered all around.
First have a little taste with a cup of tea then wrap some truffles pretty, for your special present. They are delicious!
