Shopping list
1 teaspoon fresh root ginger (grated)
2 garlic cloves
3 tablespoons tomato ketchup
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
3 tablespoons water
4 chicken thigh fillet (500 grams)
1 red pepper (or bell pepper)
1 bok choi + 1 bunch spring onions
200 grams bean sprouts
250 grams egg noodles
2 tablespoons sunflower oil
Chow Mein is delicious and quickly made, we make it with chicken and bok choi, amongst others. The mini-monsters like it a lot too so noodles it is today!
How to make Chow Mein
Start by making the sauce.
Peel a small piece of ginger thinly and grate it in a bowl. Add the crushed garlic and the ketchup.
Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce and the water as well and mix all ingredients together.
Prepeare the vegetables
Slice the red pepper, the spring onions and the bok choi into strips. Wash the vegetables, the bean sprouts included.
Cook the noodles
Bring in a large pan cold water to the boil and add the noodles when the water boils.
Turn off the heat and set the timer to 4 minutes.
Drain the noodles in a colander when the timer goes.
De preperations are ready, let's get wokking!
Cut the chicken into chunks and wok them in the olive oil light brown. Wok the red pepper, spring onion and bok choi a few minutes with the chicken.
Add the sauce and stir it until it bubbles. Wok the noodles and the bean sprouts in portions with the mixture.
When all is well combined the Chow Mein is ready.
Do we use chop sticks or spoon&fork? It's your choice!
