250g fresh cranberries
100g Van Gilse Special Jelly sugar (less sweet)
1/2 organic orange, juiced
2 teaspoons edible glitter (optional)
With Van Gilse's Special Jelly Sugar, making your own jam is very easy! Cranberries work a little differently than other types of fruit. Strawberries or cherries, even apricots can be blended first, as coarse or fine as you like. But that doesn't work with cranberries, you have to cook them first.
You can hear the berries popping in the pan and when they are soft, stir them well. Do you still want to blend? Go ahead but we won't, it's a shame for the delicious berries if your jam is too smooth. But taste differs and that also applies to the glitter, we think the jam is beautiful enough as it is!
How to make Cranberry Christmas Jam
Wash the cranberries.
Place the cranberries in a pan.
Add the sugar to the berries
Add the orange juice.
Bring the mixture to the boil.
You hear the berries pop.
Let the jam boil hard for 1-2 minutes.
Then the jam will be sufficiently thickened and ready to pour into the sterilized jars
Seal the jars and place them upside down for 5 minutes.
Allow the Cranberry Christmas jam to cool completely.
- from now on you can eat the Cranberry Christmas jam (but then you will be making jam again before Christmas) ;))
- you can keep the closed jars of jam for a year in a cool dark place.
- Once opened, keep the cranberry jam in the refrigerator.
Happy December!
