The Eagles of Rome is a wonderful series of 5 comic books based on a true story, but not for mini-monsters. The series, like classic Rome itself, is very violent. The story of the comic book series is based on the battle lost by the Romans at the Teutoburg Forest.
* Wikipedia quote:
This battle - in the failed Roman attempt to subdue Upper Germania - was fought between three Roman legions on the one hand and a coalition of at least four Germanic tribes on the other, led by the Germanic nobleman and leader Arminius. The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest sparked off a seven-year war, at the end of which the Rhine was established as the border of the Roman Empire for more than four centuries.*
Now you may already suspect that two best friends face each other because of love, betrayal and struggle in the Roman Empire, and you would be right. Everything realisticly described and drawn in a visual way in the beautifully clean drawing style of Enrico Marini in an exciting story. For the comic lover of this genre, these comic books are definitely an asset!
3 brilliant stars for The Eagles of Rome (the series), from our YA readers!
