It gives an insight into the daily life of father christmas but also into his job: being Father Christmas.
Do you see Santa's face when it's time to get to work? He doesn't look happy! He doesn't look like the cozy Santa Claus, who sits in his sleigh laughing al the way, hohoho. Santa starts the preparations early, so he doesn't have to do everything in one night. Maybe because there are no elves to help him.
Raymond Briggs goes for the true story, everyone feels sometimes like not going to work, Father Christmas too, and he is definitely getting on a bit! Lucky for him, Christmas only lasts 2 days a year, but what an awesome book!
