The Pigeons tyrannize all other birds that - just like them - come to the bird feeders in our garden. Even the cheeky Jackdaws and posh Magpies are chased away by them. The Jackdaws come up with all kinds of tactics to be able to eat. So funny to see!
We put an extra food bowl on the garden table, because the most tyrannical pigeon in the family cannot be in two places at the same time. But we cheered too early, because this pigeon brings more and more family members. ;))) When we open the garden door to chase the pigeons away for a moment, the Tyrant simply remains sitting on the organic waste container(!!), looking around imperiously!
With spring coming and more sunshine, the garden is changing quickly and we really need to do some work to make everything tidy. The little monsters are also looking forward to it, even more now that the sun is shining so cheerful and brightly. The Clemats bloeit mooi lichtroze
Our friends the birds are still visiting us and just like the Dutch Vogelbescherming (Bird Protection Organization) asked us, we are still lightly feeding the birds. Because more and more gardens are turned into outdoor living rooms, with large tiled terasses, with furniture and rugs there is not much food to find for the wild birds.
So we do our part with shrubs for shelter as well as food because lots of bugs live in shrubs and bushes. Grass and soil so they can dig up worms and other delicious insects (to birds!) to eat. With flowers for the bees and butterflies we try to keep everyone (including ourselves) happy with our garden.
In these photos you see the bright yellow Forsythia bells, the shrub is now in bloom. the pink Prunus tree (Ornamental Cherry), which is full of flower buds and the Lilac. We are surprised, because of a too thorough pruning there has not been a flower to see in two years. We look at it and feel happy!
The Tulips are coming out, just like the Daffodils and the little Blue Grapes. Even the Periwinkle flowers are already cautiously appearing!
The Snowballs are already in bloom on the shrub, a little too early, that's true, but they are not less beautiful. The Winter-flowering Viburnum is still in full bloom, but no longer on the bare branches. More fresh green leaves are appear every day.
Spring is a lovely season in the garden, we wish you a happy Spring time!
