This month we read beautiful, interesting and educational books about the Vikings. The Norsemen who lived in the far North and ruled the seas like a kind of pirates. Everyone was scared when they arrived in their Dragon boats. Everyone quickly hid with their valuable possessions. Because the Vikings came to plunder, rob and murder, they were a violent people. Today we make a Dragon boat.
How to make a Dragon boat
Download and print the template of the boat
Cut out the pattern of the boat.
Trace it twice like in the picture.
Cut out the 2 parts neatly.
Also trace the deck of the boat.
Cut out the drawing as neat as possible.
Glue the deck together.
Let the glue dry well.
How to paint the boat
Paint the deck and the sides.
Paint the mast and let it all dry.
Paint the other side and let dry again.
Trace the mast inside the deck.
Cut the circle crosswise.
Turn over the deck and stick in the mast.
Brush the sides of the deck with glue.
Press both the sides onto the deck with both heads looking the same way
Clip on clothes pegs and let the glue dry completely.
Glue paperclips between the cardboard on the sides.
Snip the points off the Tapas skewers with a cutter.
Now the oars fit into the eyelets on the sides.
The boat itself is ready, so now we make the sail and then we decorate the boat with shields and a fearsome dragon head
Cut a sail out of white paper.
Cut red strips, stick them vertically on the sail.
Stick the sail onto the mast.
Glue the mast in the hole in the deck
Paint shields and stick them on both sides of the boat.
Finally decorate the Dragons Head until it looks terrifying!
Tomorrow we make the Vikings, to man the boat!
