The brilliant illustrations were created by Suzie Mason They add so much atmosphere to lives of the animals and the changing of the seasons. A golden combination, these two ladies!
When all birds fly south in the fall to escape the cold, the Nightingale cannot join them. She is left behind and sees all the other animals in the forest getting ready for the days to come. What those days will look like the bird does not know, she never experienced the winter days.
Winter is long and cold, it is not easy for an injured bird. Fortunately, the other animals help her wherever they can. And then, as always, spring comes again and the bird is happy to be alive!
She has learned what winter means and that it can also be beautiful, even though it was very hard! But the very best part is that she now knows what friendship means, after meeting her loyal animal friends in the forest. Highly recommended!
