Max Liebermann was a German painter who came to the Netherlands every summer to work by the sea. He loved the North Sea and the painters of the Hague School. He liked to draw people just as they were. He was not looking for beautiful models but he liked to draw ordinary people and not everyone liked that.
The wonderful, soft coloured illustrations are made by Annette Fienieg, they bring you straight into the atmosphere of the story. A perfect combination, worthy of a museum book!
