We read a very beautiful picture book with our little ballerinas: Dance like a Butterfly, with text by the German author Angela Wenzel. The illustrations are the paintings created by the beloved 19th century French painter Edgar Degas.
He painted the dancers of the Paris Opera House the most. He spent many hours there studying them and sketching exactly how they moved. With these paintings he became world famous and people who love art immediately recognize this as the work of Edgar Degas.
Our young ballerinas who also attend ballet classes find the book very beautiful. We enjoy looking at the beautiful prints of the famous paintings together. Unfortunately, the book has not been translated into Dutch.
