What do you need?
a piece of electricity cord
sharp knife (adult)
small LED lights
een button battery
isolation tape
wooden clothes peg
chenille sticks (pipe cleaners)
wobbly eyes
glue
To make this bee with the lightened feelers you do not need much. It does not have to be a bee, in the same way you can make a dragonfly or a butterfly or any insect you like. The lights can be attached to the end of the body, on the wings, as eyes or like we did, on the feelers.
It is not dangerous to make because the electricity that is used is weak. An adult's help is needed to cut the plastic sheath of the copper wire, because a sharp knife is used for this. The rest kids aged approximately 10 years old can almost completely do by themselves.
How to make a LED insect
Before you start check the lights
Press the legs of the lights against both sides of the battery.
Remove the white sheat of the cord then you see a blue and a brown string.
Cut off 2 pieces of each colour then remove the sheat from the ends.
This is what the 4 strings you need should look like, they should have the same length.
Twist two of the copper coloured ends of the same colour together.
Check to see which color goes on the + side, which on the -.
Tape the copper end to the battery on the side you just checked.
Did brown go on the + side then blue goes on the -.
Then tape 1 leg of 1 light to the + side.
Tape the second leg of the light to the other side.
Now the light should be on, if not change the light.
Attach light 2 in the same manner then place a peg on the battery.
Bend the cords forward then wrap black pipe cleaner around the peg.
Wrap more black pipe cleaner around the feelers, the head and the body.
The place where the battery is situated together with a 1/3 of the feelers will be the head. The head is the broadest, the body is tapered to the back.
Twist 6 legs on the body, 3 yellow stripes and 2 ecru wings.
Stick eyes on the head and your bee is ready!
