These funny fossils can be made with the smallest kids, the 'bread' douhg is harmless. That does not mean they can eat it, it's much too salty. But if they get something in the mouth it does not hurt. If you use gouache to colour the fossils you'll be quite good because you can easily wash it out of the clothes.
How to make Dinosaur fossils
Pour the flour into a big bowl.
Add the salt.
Pour in the water.
Finally add the oil.
Stir all ingredients firmly combined.
Knead the big crumbs smooth by hand.
The dough should feel supple and elastic.
- If the dough after kneading well shows fractures then it is too dry. You knead very small amounts of water into the dough until it feels smooth and elastic.
- If the dough after kneading well is sticky, then the dough is too wet. You knead small amounts of flour in until the dough feels smooth and elastic.
Roll the dough into balls.
Flatten them with your hand.
Press the dinosaur into the dough.
Make various dinosaur prints.
Preheat the oven to 50°C
Carefully remove the dino's.
Puk can do it really well too!
Let the fossils cool on a rack.
- The fossils need to be baked until completely dry, then you can keep them long
- When you tap the backside of a fossil and it sounds hollow it is completely dry on the inside
By painting various colours over one another when the paint is still wet your fossils get a nice antique look
Very pretty!
