Today we make the Three Kings, also called the Three Wise Men from the East. In the Netherlands,Three Kings Day is celebrated on January 6. At our Puk's Waldorf School, a beautiful Epiphany play is performed. We dress wooden dolls beautifully with woolen felt and we give all three of them a crown. They bring gold, myrrh and frankincense to the newborn child
How to make The Three Kings
Paint one head brown, this King comes from Africa.
Cut one strip of yellow felt, fit it around the head.
Pin it at the right size then cut two more strips.
Pin the pattern of the dresses on three colours of felt.
Cut out the three dresses then pin them around the dolls.
Cut out the points of the crown.
Close the crown and pin on the dresses.
Sew all 3 dresses closed.
Cut capes, string them in the middle.
Sew them tight with 3 small stitches.
The Kings should look like this.
Paint two wooden beads brown, sew 2 hands firmly on each King.
Saw some little pieces of wood and stick on beads to be the presents.
Paint the presents gold then decorate them, incense, myrrh and gold.
Stick the presents to the hands, the crowns on the heads.
The three Kings - Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar - are ready!
The dolls look beautifully regal!
