Thumbelina is an old well-known fairy tale by Hans Christaan Andersen, but she is not as widely loved as, for example, The Little Mermaid or The Ugly Duckling. As in all fairy tales, the story is exciting, the heroine is heartbroken but in the end everything will be fine and she will live happily ever after.
Special about this story is that Thumbeline a girl the size of your thumb is. How difficult is it then to hold your own among the animals in nature. Therefore she has all kinds of exciting adventures.
But at least as much as the story, we love the illustrations, which blend in perfectly with the fairy tale. They remind us a little of the illustrations by Anton Pieck, so atmospheric, detailed and with about the same use of colors. Just stunning!
3 clear shining stars for Thumbelina from the snazzie readers, young and older!
