This is Eefje, one of our snazzie hobbyists. In her class there are two girls who can sew, time for Eefje to learn it too. She would like to make an animal. Guess what her favorite animals are ....
How to make a Giraffe
Cut out the pattern and pin it on double folded felt.
Cut out the giraffe around the pinnend on pattern.
Take the pins from the pattern and put the pattern aside.
Pin the two parts giraffe neatly back together again.
The pinning is difficult, it will be easier if you lift the fabric a little.
Then insert the yarn into the needle and tie a knot at the bottom of the yarn.
Stitch two stitches on top of each other, then go around in the blanket stitch.
How to sew the blanket stitch
- Insert the needle through the fabric and pull it all the way through, repeat this stitch in the same place.
- Insert the needle again a little further but do not pull the thread tight, leave a small loop.
- Insert the needle from the bottom up through the loop and tighten the thread.
That is all, it works really quick & easy once you get the hang of it!
With Eefje it soon goes well, she leaves a part open to fill the giraffe,
Stuff the filling through the gap into the giraffe, use a pencil*.
Braid a tail and cut squares with the four corners off.
Embroider an eye on the head with black yarn.
*Press little pieces of filling into the ears and into the legs of the giraffe with a pencil.
Eefje stick on the spots or you can sew them on.
Sew on the tail and your giraffe is ready!
