The Ancient Greek vases excavated by archaeologists and now to be admired in museums are magnificent. They are painted with the most beautiful scenes, with Greek athletes, such as discus throwers, fighting heroes or even with their gods and there were many!
The Amphora at the top right - which you can see in real life, in the British Museum in London - was the example for our vase (which actually should be called amphora too). On the real amphora you see the Greeks harvesting olives and 1 person even climbed the tree for it. We are going to do our best! ;))
How to make an Antique Greek Amphora yourself
Draw the Greek amphora.
Colour it using crayons.
Colour the amphora really thick!
Cut out the amphora.
You see that you don't have to colour neatly, just thick. You can go over the edges with your crayons, never mind, you are going to cut out the amphora anyway. Your drawing can also be adjusted with the scissors, for instance too thick ears? Too heavy foot? You can easily trim them. :))
Also cut out the inside of the ears.
Paint the amphora thickly with the acrylic paint.
Let the thick layer of paint dry thoroughly!
The amphora is dry, let's scratch.
You do need a little bit of patience.
We look at the example on the website.
But we also do our own interpretation. :))
We like the end result and will go and find a lovely spot for our Ancient Greek Amphora! We have found a fun history website for kids (in English), take a look at their books as well, if you like!
