Shopping list
4 small chicken breast fillets
8 slices bacon
4 slices cheddar (optional)
4 hamburger buns, cut open
lettuce; tomatoes; red onion; to serve
For the sauce and marinade
10 tablespoons tomato ketchup
4 tablespoons brown sauce
2 teaspoons clear honey
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
dash of chilli sauce (optional)
We are still in the middle of the hamburger season ;)) and this is actually a barbecue recipe. But ... we lent our barbecue, we don't use it that often. Now it would have come in handy, but luckily we have a nice grill pan.
How to make BBQ chicken burgers
First make the marinade / sauce
Put the ketchup and brown sauce into a bowl.
Add honey and optional the chili sauce.
Press the garlic and add it too.
Stir it all together into a smooth sauce.
Set some of the sauce aside in the refrigerator
Cut the chicken, fold open like a book.
Coat the chicken with marinade.
Cover the bowl with cling film.
Allow the chicken to marinate in the refrigerator for 1 - 1.5 hours
Meanwhile do the preparations, light the BBQ well in advance so that the fire smolders
Wash and drain lettuce and tomatoes.
Slice the onion into rings.
Cut the burger buns in half.
Toast the buns on the BBQ (or griddle).
Until the well known brown stripes appear.
Grill the chicken +/- 10 minutes on each side until cooked.
Melt the cheese on the chicken in the last few minutes.
When the meat thermometer reads 72°C your chicken is perfectly cooked
First put lettuce then chicken with cheese on the burgers.
Top the burger with sauce, bacon, onion and tomato.
We eat the BBQ Chicken Burgers nicely outside, happy summer!
