What do you need?
a large glass jar
gravel or hydro granules
potting soil
small plants
moss
some pebbles
dinosaurs
Such a beautiful dinosaur terrarium takes little effort to make and our younger mini-monsters like it a lot. We got this large glass jar for free, buying flowers at Albert Heijn but at Action you can buy them too, for a bargain. The little ones learn at the same time, plants need water to grow, so you have to take good care of them. This important task is on them :)
NB When lifting our beautiful free AH-jar the bottom suddenly dropped out. Chaos in the terrarium of course! Luckily HEMA is round the corner so they helped out with a similar - but much thicker - jar.
How to make a dinosaur terrarium
Cover the bottom of the jar with gravel or hydro granules.
Fill the jar until half full with fertilized potting soil.
Make holes in the soil and tap the plants out of the pots.
Place the plants in the holes and push gently down.
Cover the roots with soil then water the plants.
Cover the soil here and there with moss.
We pace some 'boulders' in the landscape.
Maybe a tree trunk then the dinosaurs move in.
We are going to take great care of it!
