Making a Unicon plushie is not difficult but it's a lot of work! If you can sew on a sewing machine (or your Mum is willing to do it for you) it saves you a lot of time but ... it is more fun to make it yourself. We sew the Unicorn by hand ;)
How to make a Unicorn
Pin the pattern on the fabric, cut out the body parts.
Stitch the body closed but leave a gap open to fill.
Stitch the horse's legs and the ears in the same way.
Turn the body, the four legs and the ears inside out.
Fill the parts (except the ears) with Fiberfill.
Sew all parts closed, pin the legs to the body.
Sew the legs to the body like in the picture.
Stitch the head but leave an opening to fill.
Fill the head then sew the fill opening closed.
Attach the head to the body.
This is how your Unicorn should look now.
Lace a thread of yarn through the nose, pull it and sew it onto the head
Fold the ears, do not fill! Sew them onto the head.
Roll different colours of cotton around a piece of cardboard
Tie a thread through the top of a strand in each colour.
Cut the strands of cotton in half on the underside.
Attach the mane - colour after colour - to the head.
Make a multi coloured tail in the same manner.
Attach the tail to the backside of the unicorn.
Sew a horn, swirl gold thread around it.
Fill then sew the horn on the Unicorn.
Press 2 glue circles from a glue gun.
- Allow the glue circles to dry, paint them with glitter nailpolish, let it dry
- Paint a colour of your choice over the glitter paint
- Glue eyes and felt nostrils on the Unicorn
It was quite a job but your Unicorn is ready!
