What do you need?
a piece of cotton fabric
scissors
pins
matching colour yarn
a needle
a coloured cord
a safety pin
Useful but not necessary
a sewing machine
If you are using fabric with pictures do mind they will be straight up on your bag
For our pictures it works best if we fold the fabric from bottom to top in half, with the good side inwards
This means sewing two seams, 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom
Cut a piece of fabric of 22x44cm
Fold twice to make a seam.
Pin the seam.
Stitch the seam straight as you can.
Also sew the seam on the opposite side
Pin both sides of the bag.
Sew both sides closed.
One side has a selvedge, it does not fray..
Finish the non-selvedge side neatly with a zigzag stitch, when sewing on the sewing machine
Turn the bag inside out.
Attatch the safety pin to the cord.
Attach one to the bottom too.
Stick the pin into the seam.
And push it through, bit by bit.
Tie a knot in both cords at the end.
Lay the bag flat ant cut the cord to size.
Now you can open and close the bag.
Fold ugly edges on the sides inward.
Sew them neatly fast.
Do be very careful not to stitch into the cord with your needle, the cord should be able to move!
Sew the other side neatly as well.
Now your needlework-bag looks perfect!
You can sew these bags in the same way from any fabric, in any size and put whatever you want in it!
Not only yor needle work but also toys, gym clothes or your collection of stones, for example, anything and everything fits in it!
