A Diorama is very old-fashioned (in 1822 people heard the word for the first time) and at the same time very modern. It usually is a little box to look in, in which things have been placed one behind the other so that it gives a depth effect, now we call it 3D;)) The boxes are often exhibited in various museums but also The Efteling has one, still miniature but big. Nice to take a look, maybe during the holidays. Today we make one ourselves, from Jungle Book.
This is how you make the Jungle Book Diorama
Give the box a nice colour inside, we choose green (Jungle).
If you are lucky the paint covers in one go, if not you have to paint twice.
Allow the paint to dry really well.
Print the PDF's while the paint is drying
Colour the animals and cut them out with a margin around.
Stick the background picture in the box.
Stick the animals on the cardboard using the glue stick.
Cut them out but keep a border to glue.
Cut leaves out of felt, maybe use the templates on the PDF.
Cut grass, vines and leaves in many different colours green.
Paint the green on both sides of the background brown.
Stick pieces of styrofoam on some leaves.
Stick the leaves on the background.
Stick cardstock edges on the grasses, to glue.
This is wat it should look like later on.
Draw 4 strip on cardboard, the sizes of the box.
Cut the strips off and make a score in the middle.
Strike glue on one side of the strips and stick them in the box.
Put on paperclips and allow the glue to dry.
Use or make a roll, cut it open then glue it.
Cut the underside then paint the roll brown.
Stick a few felt leaves on the upside.
Roll a snake of pipe cleaners, stick on eyes and a tongue.
Glue the felt leaves and grasses on the edges all around the box.
