To make a new candle from old scraps of candle, you need a lot of stubs. But if you would really like to make a candle yourself, you can supplement the leftovers with tea lights. Or you can use a smaller mold than we show you here.

How to make a cute Easter candle

Put on a pan with a layer of water and bring it close to the boil, turn the gas low.

Chop the candles into small pieces and remove the old wicks.

Add little pieces of crayon in the colour of your choice.

Place the candle pieces with the crayon in a can, put the can in the pan.

Meanwhile clamp the wick between two sticks with a rubber band.

Allow the candle to melt gently, stir on and off with the ice stick.

Totally melted pour the oil through a sieve into the mold.

Make the second batch ready using yellow crayon i.s.o. orange.

Place the can back in the pan, allow the candles to melt again.

Stir the oil then pour it through the sieve in the mold.

When the second layer is in the mold you prepare the third.

Pour the third layer but save some oil for later in the can.

Please mind!
Adult help/supervision is required! Never melt candles in the microwave, this can be dangerous! Always melt au bain marie.

  • Pour and stir carefully, the can will become not so hot but the oil will!
  • Pour multiple layers, while setting a well will appear in the center of the candle, this way you fill it
  • When pouringthe color is very bright, set the color has become a pastel. Use more crayon for bright colours
  • To make a scented candle stir the essential oil into the slightly cooled melted candle oil befor pouring

Never mind if the leftover candlewax sets in the can.

Leave can and candle overnight to set completely.

Melt the wax in the can then fill the well.

Unfortunately we saved not enough wax to fill the candle neatly and even on top. We're making a candle for the first time, practice makes perfect so the candle will turn out more beautiful next time.

Pull the candle gently from the mold by the wick.

Make a cute face on your candle and you're done.

The plan was to give the candle a chick face with an orange beak but due to the colour difference in yellow we decided to make the usual face instead. In the end we are happy with our imperfect Easter candle anyway, because it still turned out very cute.

Happy Easter!
