6 slices Brioche bread
3 large free range organic eggs
250ml double cream
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
a pinch salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
butter and maple syrup, to serve
optional: fruit
Earlier on snazzie we already made French Toast, from the UK, but now we came across this recipe from the USA. As we all know: everything is bigger and better in the USA and especially this "French" Toast;)) They don't look on a calorie anymore, so some milk? We take whipped cream! But it must be said: it is very tasty, this is comfort food, in the extreme!
Here is how you make this French Toast
Cut the brioche in thick slices.
Whisk the eggs, cream and sugar.
With cinnamon, vanilla and salt.
Whisk it until airy.
Soak the bread in the mixture
Soak 5 minutes on each side.
Melt a knob of butter.
Fry the bread golden brown.
In 2 - 3 minutes per side.
Serve French Toast hot with butter and maple syrup.
Tip! Keep the bread warm in the oven on low temperature, while you're baking
