We make a Sinterklaas surprise for a boy who loves reptiles (like we do!). We chose the Tokay-Gekko (see above) because of its beautiful colours and because we love Geckos ourselves. This is no surprise that it is ready in half an hour, we really want to make something beautiful out of it so we do our best!
As a gift we wanted to have a reptile book in the surprise, but unfortunately they were too expensive. We are going a little over the 5 euro budget with the new Asterix comic book, also a nice gift. But other times we added strooigoed, not this time, so that's how it will be balanced again. ;))
How to make the Gekko Sinterklaas Surprise
Cut 14 points out of the boxes.
Paint them with light mint.
Let the paint dry.
Trim the back of the head.
Cut a mouth in the point.
Stick 2 open sides together.
Stick 6 of the points together.
Let the tail dry.
Stick in the middle piece.
Stick the front piece together.
Glue front and back together.
Let the glue dry comepletely.
Draw 4 legs on the egg karton.
Cut out the legs and paint them.
Allow the legs to dry.
Paint a flat box with grey.
Allow the paint to dry.
Stick the legs on the body.
Now we make the Gecko complete
Give the lizzard orange spots.
Cut an orange tongue.
Stick on the eyes and tongue.
Cut out of cardboard various colours grass.
Stick the Gecko, clumps of grass and some rocks on the box.
The gift fits into the box, so your Sinterklaas surprise is ready!
Good luck with your surprise and a happy Sinterklaas celebration!
