small piece white chocolate
small piece dark chocolate
a drop foodcolouring, yellow
small piece fondant icing, yellow & white
The mini monsters show us a healthy smoothie bowl from the internet and we see cute pictures. Really pretty! It's hard to explain that the pretty picture - eating trend is going way too far for us, as long as there are food banks in our country and too many hungry children in the world. Apparently many of us don't understand it either, because we sadly do not seem to be capable to ban poverty hunger worldwide.
A 'teenager' explains why should you not always eat beautiful things? They can also be healthy. It contains all kinds of fruit and / or superfoods and supplement powders and the whole is ground into an ointment. The colors are beautiful, a lot of chocolate is used, no wonder kids want that too.
We have no trouble with the fruit and the chocolate. But the powders, especially spirulina, have many uncertainties and certainly do not seem healthy for children. Therefore a compromise. Fortunately, they also like our smoothie bowl, although it is not as beautiful as on youtube ;))
How to make a smoothie bowl for spring
Peel the bananas.
Cut both into slices.
Place in the freezer.
Take them out 10 mins in advance.
Put the fruit in the blender.
Blend until semi smooth.
Cover in cling film and put in the fridge.
How to make the bees
Melt the chocolate au bain marie.
Roll balls of icing, flatten them.
Cut strips of yellow icing.
Cut into hexagons.
First cut squares then cut off 4 small corners
Stir a drop of food colouring into the white chocolate.
Roll the chocolate eggs in the yellow chocolate.
Allow the chocolate on the eggs to set on a wire rack.
Draw stripes using a skewer and dot eyes on the bees.
Top the smoothies with bees and honey.
