Today we cut and paste a Swedish Lucia star hat and staff from coloured cardboard. Like children in Sweden are wearing when it is Lucia Day, on December 13th. At breakfast Lucia and the little Star bearers (boys and girls) enter singing, wearing a white dress with the star hat and staff.
Lucia (the eldest girl) is also wearing a white dress, with a red sash and a crown on her head, with burning candles. After breakfast they go and bring grandma and grandpa some treats and bring something tasty to the neighbors as well. A wonderful celebration!
How to make a star hat and staff of card board
Roll the white cardboard into a conical shape.
Cut off the excess cardboard along the line using a Stanley knife.
Glue the pointy hat together and let the glue dry.
Place a clothespin on the top and the bottom of the glued parts of the hat
Trace the star templates using a pencil.
Trace 2 large stars for the staff.
Cut out all the stars.
Cutt off (level) the underside of the hat.
Stick the stars on the hat.
Let the glue dry well.
Stick the stars together, leaving 1 point open.
Glue the star on the stick.
Thread a thin elastic through the bottom of the hat.
Wishing you a wonderful Lucia Day!
