A Moon and Stars Lantern

for Martinmas

What do you need?
a sheet of photo cardboard
a pencil and a ruler
a utility knife
colored kite paper
pair of scissors
a glue stick
gold paper
hobby glue
a staplerpiece of wire
a stick and a paperclip

We make a simple Martinmas lantern with stars and the moon for the little monsters. Cut a sheet of photo card stock and cut out stars and a moon. Roll the cardboard and staple it, Cut oud a round bottom and stick it in. The monsters love the lantern, they can hardly wait until is is November 11!

How to make a star lantern

Cut off a strip of photo cardboard lengthwise, in the desired height of the lantern

Draw a moon on thick cardboard and cut it oust.

Trace the moon and stars with a pencil and cut them out.

Cut out pieces of transparent paper to stick behind it.

Stick all the coloured paper behind the moon and the stars.

Allow the glue to dry well.

Roll and staple the photo cardboard.

Stick some stars on the double part.

When the daylight shines trough.

And with a candle inside.

Trace a bottom on cardboard

Cut out the bottom and cut it in..

To make the bottom we trace a plate that has an overlap of 3-4 cm all around, make cuts in that margin and fold flaps upward

Spread glue on the flaps and push the bottom in the lantern.

Turn the lantern over and press the glued pieces firmly on.

Poke two holes in the lantern to lace the piece of wire through.

Glue the paperclip into the stick and stick the light on the bottom.

Your Stars Lantern is ready!

Now we have to patiently waite for November 11th! ;)
