a small cardboard suitcase
coloured drawing paper and card stock
hobby glue
plastic miniature cars
pencil, ruler, scissors
a cutting mat and a Stanley knife
We make a little suitcase to play with. Today's suitcase is for a boy who loves cars which is why we create a landscape in it in which cars can drive. We start by drawing and cutting all parts, then we can glue it together. You can also download and print the individual parts on the PDF.
With some regularity Lidl offers blocks with colored paper and cardboard for a small price, we have a lot of fun with those!
How to make a car suitcase
Start by lining the suitcase.
Cut out the circumference then fit it in the cover of the suitcase.
Press it to the other side then mark where the grass is too high.
Remove the 'grass' again then cut it to size with pinking shears.
Do the same on the otherside, whith blue, it will be the sky.
Cut off the blue to where the bottom of the standing suitcase begins.
Then cut the corners of the paper round to fit the suitcase.
Fit both parts in the suitcase.
Make a crease in the cover.
Cut out the side parts.
Glue all sides in the suitcase too.
Now make the motorway
Measure the width of the suitcase and make a mark.
Draw or trace from the print a curly shape.
Cut the circumference out off sturdy grey cardboard.
Cut the inner part from the moterway.
Draw various items to decorate the landscape, such as water, grass, trees, mountains, houses, flats, a farm, a windmill, a bridge, parking lots, traffic lights, etc. on colored cardstock.
Cut out all loose parts.
Stick the parts together.
Glue all inside the suitcase.
Do not glue the cars in the suitcase.
Then you can play with the suitcase.
Have fun!
