The summer holidays are coming and we will be spending a lot of time outside again. We take everything with us to enjoy ourselves outside! If we go to a forest or the heather fields, we pack magnifying glass jars to view the forest inhabitants up close. Binoculars, for bird watching and we also always have an empty container with a lid for stones and other treasure that we find there. The beach is for kite flying, building sand castles and shell collecting. We pack the shovels and the box comes along too, for the shells. But today we are making a new kite, the 'old' one no longer works very well. What do we stick on the kite? A dragon says Puk. :)) Of course!!
How to make your own kite
Print our dragon or draw your own decoration
Wind the rope diagonally around the stick several times.
Continue winding crosswise until the sticks are tied firmly.
Knot the ends tightly over each other several times.
Now use a saw to make a horizontal, slanting cut on de underside of all 4 bamboo sticks
Connect the 4 ends of the sticks with string.
Tie the string firmly together and cut off.
Place the cross on the kite paper.
Draw stripes around the string on the kite with a margin of 2 cm
Cut off the paper on the black marks.
Trace the dragon on another colour of kite paper.
Cut out the dragon or your own decoration.
Stick the dragon on the kite using a glue stick.
Now fold and glue the paper around the string.
Allow the glue to dry completely.
Optional: stick details on your dragon.
Cut fire, teeth and eyes and stick on.
Allow the glue to dry well again.
Horizontally loosly tie on a sting.
- Also tie a piece of string on the top of the kite (Look at the picture closely!)
- Tie it tghtly to the middle of the horizontal string, which someone is holding tighly upwards for you
How to make the tail
Cut strips of fabric and tie them to a string.
Tie a wooden bead on the end of the string.
Cut off thin strips of crepe paper.
Glue the strips on the ends of the horizontal sticks.
The kite is ready, there it goes!
Now let's hope for a little wind every day because then the kite can fly high into the sky often, have fun!
