ribbed paper (on a roll beschuit)
cap from douche foam
white and blue paint, paint brush

How to make a Starwars X-wing Fighter

First download the template
The total length of our Starwars X-wing fighter is 39 cm, the wingspan is 59 cm.
We start with the cabin, use a metal ruler when tracing or cutting the patterns from the template. The cutting must be done by an adult!

Trace the cabin on cardboard.

Cut out the cabin as indicated.

Make creases using scissors.

Cut out the circle for R2D2.

Glue the back of the cabin.

Trace the body of the X-wing.

Cut out the drawing.

Cut on the marked lines.

Cut out the glue strips too.

Crease lines with closed scissors.

Fold the creased lines.

Fold the glue strips.

Here you see the 3 open lines.

Cut out the indicated triangles.

How to use Bison contact glue

  • Spread glue on both sides of the object you want to stick together, when using contact glue.
  • Allow the glue to dry for 5 minutes then press the glued sides firmly together.

Spread glue on the 2 big glue strips.

Place clothes pins on the strips.

Spread glue on the other glue strips.

Fold the body together.

Place rubber bands on the body of the airplane then allow the glue to dry thoroughly.

Trace the wings on the card board then cut them out.

Slide the wings through the holes then stick the cabin on the airplane.

Cut strips of the ribbed paper and roll them.

Glue the rolls closed at the ends, allow them to dry.

Cut to fit, stick the 4 thick engines together.

Stick the engines on the X-wing besides and under the cabin.

Stick R2D2 in the hole in the cabin of the X-wing Fighter.

Glue 4 slim engines on the outside of the wings, stick in skewers.

We have figures and vehicles from the first Starwars movies, but if you do not you can still put an R2D2 in your X-Wing Fighter.

How to make an R2 of a cap

Paint the cap white or silver, let the paint dry.

Draw on it with a blue felt pen.*

Stick R2D2 in the hole.

Regrettably our picture did not win but we liked competing very much indeed. Joey found a nice spot for the X-Wing Fighter in his room.
