The mini-monsters love the Amelia Fang book series, we read all the books to them again. What is more fun then to make an Emila doll? With pipe cleaners and some small pieces of fabric she is made in no time.
How to make an Emilia Fang doll
Twist the pipecleaners as you see in the picture.
Bend hands and feet on the ends.
Cut off a piece of tubing then get needle and thread.
Tie on firmly then sew the top closed.
Pull the thread then tie off.
Roll a ball and fill the tubing.
String a thread through the underside.
Pull the thread but do not close.
Stick head on the body.
Pull tight then tie off.
Sew felt around the head.
Close the head like you did before.
Cut 2 pieces of fabric then pin in half.
Leave the top open.
Sew both legs closed, then sew both sides of the panty.
Put on the leggings then string the top around the body.
String a cotton / velour skirt.
Sew felt around the torso and sew on the skirt.
Cut ribbons, slightly longer than the skirt.
Stick in the waist and sew tight.
We use 5 ribbons for this.
When we are going to sew on the face we keep an Amelia Fang book at hand. Cut out eyes (fairly large circles) of white felt and sew them on with a black thread, make the pupils using a black marker.
Sew felt eyes on the head, stick through to the nose.
Embroider a black nose, mouth and fangs.
Roll embroidery yarn around your fingers, string a big needle.
Sew on the hair with small stitches.
Tie the top hair in a bun, tie in a thread and add freckles with a marker.
Make blushes on the cheeks and sew cardstock wings on the back.
