On the lazy, hot days of the summer vacation we enjoy reading under the parasol. Not in the mood to go out, we just chill. As always, we choose a number of books from various categories.
We love reading exciting adventures but also books about subjects we want to know more about. The little monsters enjoy funny books the most and we also like very special books, we have a few of those too. See for yourself!
Summer Books
The Bodemschat is a lovely holiday story. It's about two children who find a small jellyfish on the beach. They call the animal Kwallie and want to bring him back to his family. Along the way they encounter many fun mudflat animals! 6 - 7 years old - Only in Dutch.
Adventure Books
Mio, my son is a beautiful, moving story, told by the best, world-famous Swedish storyteller Astrid Lindgren. Full of brilliant, beautifully coloured illustrations by artist Johan Egerkrans (Dutch version). In the English book by Ilon Wikland. For children aged 9+ years.
History Books
The willewete books are so well known, especially among our readers! This part about The Egyptians is beautiful again. Just returned from a visit to the Museum of Antiquities, it's just right for our monsters.The extra info is very welcome here! From 7 years old - in Dutch.
What about 2 meerkats Stuiver and Pluis with a time machine, who visit the Vikings? This book is funny, beautifully illustrated and provides so much information. What a super fun hardcover museum book for only € 7.90! From 7 - 8 years old - Only in Dutch.
Yet another history book, this time about the Ancient Greeks. A beautiful, large viewing and play book about the ancient world, with labyrinths and a lot of information and details about this period in our history. Very nicely edited too! From 7 - 8 years old.
Funny Books!
Dog Man is a series of very funny comic books that the little monsters like to read themselves. So nice to see them laughing out loud and having a hard time putting the book down! Funny nonsense, but it stimulates the desire to read and gives the kids a good time. 14 parts - for 8 - 9 years old.
Special Books
