We love to use FIMO and we use it often. It is beautiful material but the manufacturer's safety regulations are really scary.
We use FIMO only with 10 years and up kids and then 1 on 1. But adults should be careful with this material too.
When crafting with younger kids use DAS clay, even though it takes a while to dry.
For pre-schoolers bread dough works best, it is no problem if by accident some dough ends up in a little mouth.
