You baked the basic vanilla cake yesterday. Today we're going to decorate that cake with a glaze and fondant icing, especially for spring.
How to make a Spring cake
Stir the icing sugar with the lemon juice and the water into a smooth, shiny icing.
Give the icing colour by adding and stirring in foodcolouring.
A few drops of yellow with a drop of blue makes green icing, for pink add a drop of red to white icing.
Spread icing on the cake and allow it to drip down.
Roll the icing fondant nice and thin.
Cut out flowers and butterflies.
That's easy if you use different icing cutters.
Press flowers and butterflies on wet icing, drip icing in the heart of the flowers.
Press pink Smarties and silver balls on the flower hearts.
Dust the butterflies with pink glitter, using a small brush.
With little effort your ordinary cake has turned into a fabulous one, to celebrate Spring has arrived.
