2 cod fillets
125 grams of butter
1 organic lemon
sea salt and freshly ground pepper
splash of cold water
Today finally gran's recipe for making stewed cod to complete this fish menu. A small note about the butter sauce: there are people who made the sauce with a dash of milk instead of water. The sauce was also sometimes thickened by stirring in cornstarch and allowing the sauce to thicken. But this is grandma's version, she wasn't a fan of a thick sauce in combination with the cod :)
How to make Stewed Cod Fish
Scrub the lemon clean
Sprinkle the fish with salt and pepper.
Cut some lemon slices.
Heat the pan and melt the butter.
Place the fish and lemon in the butter.
Let the fish stew for short of 10 minutes.
Then remove the fish from the pan.
Add a splash water to the butter sauce.
Remove the lemon slices, bring the sauce just to the boil and pour it into a serving dish
Serve the stewed cod with fresh lemon slices.
The fish tastes delicious with carrots and mashed potatoes.
