Our pick of the week is a really funny picture book and it's called Gigantosaurus. The book was created by British author/illustrator Jonny Duddle, a beloved children's author in the UK. In 2012 he won the Childrens Bookprize from Waterstones, one of England's largest bookshops. His books have now been translated worldwide and are just as popular all over the world as they are in the UK.
Gigantosaurus is about 4 cute little dinosaurs. The Dino-mum's are concerned, the little ones are sometimes naughty and curious, just like our mini-monsters. Then they experience an exciting adventure, which luckily ends well. Just as it should be in picture books for this age group.
The illustrations are brilliant, the expression on the big dino faces is so striking, they are very funny! The text is completely in rhyme and just as clever and funny as the illustrations are.
We would also like to mention that the translation of Bette Westera is great. Her translated rhymes remain just as funny and witty as in the original language, which is no small task.
We can not recommend this book warmly enough, the mini-monsters can't get enough of it. What a brilliant book ... and it comes also with a surprise: a cute free poster, printed on the inside of the dust jacket!
